  • New Video from Division Athlete Jack Fogelquist - All Work and No Play

    Posted on January 3, 2014 by D26

Jack and the boys at Backwoods Media absolutely crushed it with this video. read Jacks write up below about what this video is all about. We couldn't have said it better ourselves.

We've all heard it before: “all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.” It's a concept that gets so easy to lose track of when you've spent a few months digging-in the winter's new line. The trail is like a child to you at this point; you've been there for its development every step of the way, from the initial raking that uncovers the luscious loam, to the final packing of the shimmering landing. It consumes you, and it feels like it may never get finished, giving you all the more incentive to spend another day digging. But there is a balance.

Too much digging and you start getting unrealistic in your designs. Underestimating speed, building lips with too tight of radii, and overlooking g-outs comes to mind. More importantly, you seem to lose your creative eye for digging and begin to feel intimidated once the line nears completion.

This video is our interpretation of this series of feelings, as we strived to build everything new for the film. The project naturally had its ups and downs, like the Great Poison Oak Massacre of 2013 and the 2013 Pioneer Logging Excursion through Poison Oak Canyon. As rough as it got, there came an equal or greater reward. We were shown that when a task becomes discouragingly difficult, you just need to remember the light at the end of the tunnel and the enjoyment that your work will bring others.

We want to give a huge thanks to Ryan Stayskal for letting us use his property; we couldn't have done it without him!

  • Jack Fogelquist and Team Take 1st Place at Goldman Games up in Bend, Oregon

    Posted on May 30, 2013 by D26

Division 26 athlete Jack Fogelquist and team comes out on top at this years Goldman Games created and hosted by world class rider Jamie Goldman. This years event was a ton of fun with a truly unique format, which was a game changer for sure.  Riders would be split into random teams and have three days to film and edit a seven minute themed video.  Jack said "I had butterflies when we got there; the same butterflies you get when your fifth-grade teacher begins to read the years seating chart. Everyone’s name was in a hat, and the filmers lined up.  One by one, the riders were called, and I ended up with Carson Storch, R-Dog, Max Kauert, Jordie Lunn, Lorny, Sam Dueck, and Garret Robertson." As you can tell from Jacks description this was not your ordinary contest format.

They were quick to come up with a theme; mock all the latest trends in mountain biking.  Strava, Throwback Thursdays, First Try Fridays, Power Hours, the FMB, World’s Firsts, claiming tricks, the list went on.  The plan was to create an edit that was raw and focused on fun, because that’s the reason that we all ride.  The teams were set loose on Bend at dawn, and it was a jam-packed three days fill with hard riding, funny skits, great food, and sabotage. Way to go guys you did us proud.

  • Death of Post Office Jumps and What It Meant to Riders

    Posted on April 10, 2013 by D26

That's right the infamous Post Office Jumps are destined to be bulldozed in the near future. There's no doubt the Aptos riding scene was and is impacted by the jump spot and holds a special place in the hearts and minds of Aptos riders and riders everywhere. Its a beacon of what your local scene could be and what quality riding and character could emerge from pushing each other and encouraging younger up and coming riders to reach beyond there own limits.

Division 26 owes a ton to the spot. Our team has many riders from that scene that wouldn't be where they're at without it. Division 26 Riders like Jack Fogelquist and up and coming young gun Connor Gallart have evolved into the riders they are today having grown up with the Post Office.

Check out this awesome video featuring Division 26 riders, Cam McCaul, Greg Watts and others talking about Post Office and what its meant to them. Read the article from the Santa Cruz Sentinel Here
